atios.id, Pekanbaru — The Association of Information Technology & Open Source (ATIOS) has received an official invitation to attend the Founding Conference of the Global South NGO Platform, which will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on April 28–29, 2025. In this prestigious forum, ATIOS Chairman, Irvannanda, S.Kom, is scheduled to attend in person, representing both Indonesia and the information technology community in the Global South.
This international event will bring together over 1,000 NGO representatives from nearly 100 countries, as a follow-up to the agreements made at COP29. The conference aims to strengthen South-South Cooperation in addressing global issues, particularly those related to climate change and sustainable development.
ATIOS is seen as a strategic participant in this forum, given its active role in the development and education of inclusive and environmentally friendly information technology. The organization’s presence will also serve as an important opportunity to advocate for the use of open technology as a catalyst for climate change solutions and sustainable development in developing countries.
In addition, ATIOS is an Indonesian organization that has officially held Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) since December 2022. This status grants ATIOS the right to actively participate in UN sessions, conferences, and official agendas, while reinforcing its position on the international stage as part of the global information technology ecosystem.
“We are proud to contribute to this global dialogue. Collaboration among Global South NGOs is crucial, and open-source technology can become a bridge for innovation that is equitable, affordable, and sustainable,” said Irvannanda, S.Kom, Chairman of ATIOS.
In addition to attending the plenary sessions, ATIOS is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several technology and environmental NGOs from Asia, Africa, and Latin America, to explore opportunities for cross-regional collaboration.
This event is organized by the National NGO Forum of Azerbaijan and supported by the COP29 NGO Coalition, which consists of nearly 500 NGOs from more than 100 countries. ATIOS’ participation is expected to expand Indonesia’s networking opportunities within the Global South community while strengthening Indonesia’s strategic position on eco-friendly technology issues at the international level.
