atios.id, Pekanbaru – The Association of Information Technology & Open Source (ATIOS) extends its highest appreciation and full support for the upcoming Founding Conference of the Global South NGO Platform, to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on April 28–29, 2025. This forum marks a significant milestone in strengthening solidarity among civil society organizations in the Global South, which continue to play a strategic role in addressing global challenges such as climate change, sustainable development, social resilience, and inclusive digital transformation.
ATIOS, as a leading open source-based information technology organization in Indonesia, feels honored to receive an official invitation to attend and actively participate in this historic forum. The presence of ATIOS Chairman, Irvannanda, S.Kom, in Baku represents Indonesia’s commitment to supporting the expansion of Global South NGO networks and promoting cross-sector collaborations, particularly in the areas of environmentally friendly technology and inclusive community-based digital empowerment.
“We greatly appreciate the convening of this conference and sincerely thank the organizing committee for extending an invitation to ATIOS. In particular, we express our gratitude to the Government of Azerbaijan for providing space for civil society diplomacy among Global South countries. This is a progressive initiative that deserves recognition and serves as a positive example of harmonious synergy between governments and civil society in the region,” said Irvannanda.
Furthermore, ATIOS firmly believes that this forum is not merely an organizational gathering, but also a meaningful opportunity to strengthen friendships between nations. Indonesia and Azerbaijan share many common values, including a deep respect for cultural diversity, an ongoing commitment to strengthening democracy, and a rich tradition of spiritual harmony within their societies. Both nations uphold the principles of tolerance, value their ancestral heritage, and prioritize peace and sustainable development in their respective national agendas.
“The cultural, democratic, and spiritual similarities between Indonesia and Azerbaijan form a solid foundation for fostering closer relations in the future, especially among NGOs in both countries. We hope this conference will mark the beginning of long-term collaborations between Indonesian civil society organizations and partners in Azerbaijan, as well as with the broader Global South community,” Irvannanda added.
In addition to attending the conference’s plenary sessions, ATIOS is scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings with technology and environmental NGOs from Asia, Africa, and Latin America, to explore opportunities for cross-regional collaboration on open source-based digital programs for climate change mitigation and community empowerment.
ATIOS’ participation in this conference also reflects Indonesia’s commitment to advancing civil society diplomacy and enhancing the role of technology-based organizations in the global development agenda. (PA/FDLN)
